The fall pilot
Students get competition. The Kickoff and six scored Thursdays stay free.
Leon County Academic League opens with a free, unscored Kickoff and then runs six free scored Thursday nights for high school academic clubs. The League is building the pilot around costs a supporter can see, price, and choose one at a time.
If adult coverage moves scored play a week, October 1 remains an additional unscored exhibition. A county championship is planned separately for a Saturday in November, subject to its own facility approval and budget.

What support buys
A short list of concrete costs.
There are no public tiers and no placeholder price. Equipment is staged against turnout, and every scope is priced before it is offered.

Reliable systems with visible player displays and built-in answer timers, purchased in stages as the field becomes clear.

Insurance
Youth-program liability coverage must be bound before any student is admitted, with the host venue named on the policy.
Night by night
Event operations
Printing, scoresheets, signage, match materials, and food where the venue approves it.
Separate plan
November championship
A county championship is planned for a Saturday in November. Its venue, operating scope, and cost are approved separately from the Thursday pilot.
What we report back
Evidence from the pilot, not a promise about a future league.
In November, LCAL will report what the pilot actually delivered and what it cost. That gives every supporter a clear basis for deciding whether another season is worth backing.
- Students who attended and how many returned after their first night
- Schools reached, including schools without an established quiz bowl team
- Student-nights delivered and cost per student-night
- Nights run, whether they were staffed on time, and what went wrong
Recognition
Name and logo acknowledgment is written down.
A written sponsorship agreement can acknowledge a sponsor by name and logo on the season page, event signage, and the pilot report. The agreement states the exact placement and keeps acknowledgment separate from advertising or an endorsement.
Charitable gifts and sponsorships are documented separately. LCAL does not describe a payment as a donation while promising promotional benefits in return.

Leon County Academic League, Inc. is an all-volunteer Florida nonprofit corporation with five founding member schools.
LCAL's application for recognition under Section 501(c)(3) is pending. We do not promise tax deductibility while that application is pending.
