Year 1 budget

Where sponsor dollars land

The $500 annual school fee covers Year 1 must-haves: incorporation, question licensing, and materials. The budget below shows what a full Year 1 looks like. Coach stipends, championship travel for HSNCT-qualifying teams, the buzzer-kit equipment pool, fee waivers, and the season-end banquet all rely on sponsor support. The Year 1 sponsor ask is roughly $11,000 at the 6-school minimum and roughly $23,750 at the 15-school target, small enough that a single Founding Capital sponsor at $25,000 can underwrite the inaugural season alone.

Fee waiversFor any school that needs one $500 $1,500

Legal and equipment are largely one-time. Once the league is incorporated and the buzzer kits are bought, the recurring annual ask drops by roughly $7,500 at the full-league size. Stipends, championship travel, fee waivers, and the season-end banquet are the ongoing sponsor-funded items year over year. Question licensing remains in the must-have base, primarily covered by school fees.

Beyond Year 1

What grows with the league

The Year 1 budget is deliberately conservative. As the league proves itself, the Board's intent is to expand the program in three directions, each contingent on continued sponsor support:

  • Larger coach stipends. Year 1 target is $750 per coach. Year 2 target: $1,500. Year 3 and beyond: $2,000 or above as funding allows. Coaching this league is a real time commitment, and stipends should reflect that as soon as the program can support it.
  • Student scholarships. Cash awards for the NAQT championship team and the regular-season Player of the Year, plus summer-camp scholarships that send promising students to KAAC or NAQT academies. Year 1 recognizes finishers with trophies; Year 2 and beyond add scholarship dollars.
  • A permanent equipment pool. Year 1 relies on a mix of founding-school loans and league-purchased buzzer kits. By Year 2 or 3, the Board's goal is a league-owned equipment pool stored at Maclay so equipment access is never the barrier for a school considering joining.

Year 1 is the proof point. Year 2 and Year 3 sponsor commitments scale with what the program has demonstrated.

Sponsorship

Tiers

Community sponsorships ($250 to $2,500) broaden the base; founding-tier sponsorships ($5,000 to $25,000) anchor the program. Local businesses, Maclay parents, neighborhood law and dental practices, and individual donors are welcome at any level.
